Job summary

Teaching Personnel are working with schools across Hastings and the surrounding areas who are looking for SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their teams. You will support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them engage with learning and build confidence. Roles may be 1:1 or in small groups throughout the school day.

This role offers competitive weekly PAYE pay, free CPD/training, and flexible opportunities ranging from long-term to permanent positions, with ongoing support from a local consultant.

Teaching Personnel are working with schools across Hastings and the surrounding areas who are looking for SEMH Teaching Assistants to join their teams.

In this role, you will support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to engage with learning, build confidence and develop positive relationships. Support may be provided on a 1:1 basis or within small groups throughout the school day.

  • Experience working with children or young people in a school, care, support work, youth work or similar setting
  • A calm, patient and resilient approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships and establish trust with pupils
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • An understanding of behaviour management and the challenges some young people face in education
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

This role would suit candidates from backgrounds such as support work, youth work, residential care, coaching, mentoring, mental health support, childcare or education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
