Job summary

Academics is seeking an SEMH Teaching Assistant for a primary school in Waltham Forest, East London, starting 2 November 2026. You will support pupils with emotional and behavioural needs, helping them engage with learning and feel understood within a calm, inclusive classroom.

Working alongside teachers, you will build trust, manage emotions, and contribute to ongoing CPD and progression opportunities with Academics.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to remain consistent and positive in challenging situations.

Pay: £92 - £120 per day

About the Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant in Waltham Forest, you will support pupils who may experience difficulties with emotional regulation, behaviour, confidence or engagement in school.

Working alongside teachers and the wider support team, you will help create a calm and inclusive environment where pupils feel understood and encouraged to make progress.
