Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a supportive school in the Hersham area. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are committed to helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential both academically and emotionally.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students with SEMH needs on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and promote positive outcomes.
  • Help pupils develop emotional regulation, confidence, and social skills.
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals to support student progress.
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs.
  • Is calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.
  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Can act as a positive role model and mentor for students.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and student wellbeing.
  • Previous experience in education, youth work, care, coaching, or support work is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
