Job summary

Academics Agency in Eastbourne is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 SEMH support in a welcoming primary school. You will help manage emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement, building a trusting relationship with the pupil.

The role involves collaborating with the class teacher and SENCO, delivering calm, patient support and reinforcing positive learning habits, with a long-term placement offering meaningful impact on a child's school experience.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
  • Patient, resilient and confident in challenging situations.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with children.
  • Experience in school, SEN, youth work or support roles is desirable.

SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 SEMH Support

Eastbourne | Primary School | Full-Time | Long-Term

Academics Agency are currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil with SEMH needs within a welcoming primary school in Eastbourne.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with their emotional wellbeing, behaviour and engagement in learning.

The Role:
  • 1:1 support for a pupil with SEMH needs
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Building a trusting and consistent relationship with the pupil
  • Encouraging engagement with learning
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Providing a calm, patient and nurturing approach
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or challenging behaviour
  • Patient, resilient and confident
  • Able to build strong relationships with children
  • Consistent and calm when managing difficult situations
