A leading secondary school in Cheadle is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students with social, emotional, and mental health needs starting September 2025. This full-time role involves close interaction with students requiring additional support, helping them manage their behaviour and emotions, and fostering a positive learning environment.

A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Cheadle, Stockport is looking to appoint a full-time SEMH Teaching Assistant from September 2025. This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who may struggle with behaviour, emotional regulation, anxiety, or trauma-related challenges.
Provide consistent, compassionate one-to-one or small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
Help students manage their behaviour and emotions within the classroom setting
Implement support strategies, mentoring, and pastoral care plans in collaboration with the school’s SEND and pastoral teams
Encourage engagement with learning through trust-building and positive relationships
Act as a role model for behaviour, communication and resilience
Location: Cheadle, Stockport
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full academic year (potential for permanent placement)
Pay: £89.38 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am – 3:15pm
This role would suit:
Individuals with experience in SEMH, youth work, residential care, or behaviour support
Psychology, Counselling or Criminology graduates

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
