Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils with SEMH needs across East Lancashire. You will work with students to engage in education, develop positive behaviours and reach their potential in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

Teaching Personnel is seeking dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistants to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across East Lancashire.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional support to help them engage in education, develop positive behaviours and achieve their potential.

Responsibilities include:
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in both classroom and alternative provision settings
  • Building positive and professional relationships with students
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging lessons and interventions
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups
  • Encouraging confidence, resilience and independence
We are interested in hearing from candidates who:
  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs
  • Are patient, resilient and adaptable
  • Have strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Can remain calm and professional in challenging situations
  • Are passionate about supporting vulnerable young people

Experience in education, youth work, residential care, coaching, mentoring or support work is highly desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
