Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students in Birmingham schools. You will work with teachers to deliver personalised plans and create a safe, nurturing learning environment.

The role involves 1:1 and small group support, de-escalation strategies, safeguarding, and adapting lessons to individual needs. Full-time, part-time, temporary, and permanent placements are offered with market leading pay.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualified and/or minimum 6 months experience in an educational establishment.
• A calm, patient and caring persona.
• Good communication skills.
• A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines.
• Experience in working with supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis.
• Effective behaviour management skills.
• Effective communication with members of internal staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group learning support.
• Assist teachers to deliver engaging lessons tailored to each individual student’s abilities and needs.
• Support SEMH students to create safe, supportive learning environments.
• De-escalate challenging situations and implement appropriate strategies.
