Job summary

GUARDIAN SELECTION LIMITED in Doncaster is seeking SEMH Support Staff to help primary pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. You will provide one-to-one and small-group support alongside the class teacher, helping pupils settle, engage and progress across EYFS to KS2 in a calm, patient environment.

The role requires empathy, strong communication and the ability to maintain consistent boundaries.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable.
• Experience working with SEMH, behavioural or additional needs is advantageous.
• A calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain positive and professional when supporting challenging behaviour.

Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you have a calm, patient approach and a genuine interest in helping children overcome barriers to learning? A supportive primary school in Doncaster is looking for SEMH Support Staff to help pupils feel settled, engaged and ready to learn.

About the Role:

In this role, you will provide classroom-based support to primary-aged pupils who may need additional help with their social, emotional and mental health needs. Working alongside the class teacher and wider school team, you will help pupils manage emotions, develop positive behaviours and engage with learning across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.

To work with GSL Education as SEMH Support Staff (Primary), you should:

• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
• Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
• Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
