Job summary

Veritas Education is assisting a supportive secondary school in Twickenham to recruit a compassionate SEMH Support Assistant for a full-time, long-term September start.

You will work with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions to help regulate emotions and engagement, while supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and emotional needs in a calm, inclusive setting.

Qualifications

• Patient, empathetic and proactive individual committed to supporting young people.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Interest in SEMH, SEND, youth work, psychology, counselling, mentoring.
• Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
• Willingness to contribute to a positive, inclusive classroom culture.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH needs across KS3 and KS4.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group interventions to help regulate emotions.
• Assist pupils with challenging behaviour and anxiety.
• Build positive relationships and act as a consistent role model.
• Support teachers to create a calm, inclusive learning environment.
• Coordinate with SENCO, pastoral team and external professionals.
• Encourage emotional wellbeing and personal development inside and outside the classroom.
