Job summary

Veritas Education is assisting a supportive secondary school in Twickenham to recruit a compassionate SEMH Support Assistant for a full-time, long-term September start.

You will work with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering 1:1 and small-group interventions to help regulate emotions and engagement, while supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and emotional needs in a calm, inclusive setting.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH needs across KS3 and KS4.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group interventions to help regulate emotions.

• Build positive relationships and act as a consistent role model.
• Support teachers to create a calm, inclusive learning environment.
• Coordinate with SENCO, pastoral team and external professionals.
• Encourage emotional wellbeing and personal development inside and outside the classroom.

Veritas Education is working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Twickenham that is seeking a compassionate, resilient, and motivated SEMH Support Assistant to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain experience in special educational needs, mental health support, youth work, pastoral care, or education.

The Role

• Supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Providing 1:1 and small group interventions to help students regulate emotions, develop coping strategies, and engage positively with learning
• Supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour, anxiety, low self-esteem, or emotional dysregulation
• Building positive and trusting relationships with students and acting as a consistent role model
• Assisting teachers in creating a calm, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
• Working closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and external professionals to support individual student needs
• Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and personal development both inside and outside the classroom
