Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is recruiting for a compassionate SEMH Support Assistant at a supportive secondary school in Twickenham. You will work with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering 1:1 and small group interventions to promote emotional regulation and engagement.

The role offers full training, ongoing support, and progression opportunities within a specialist SEMH-focused setting. Applicants should have empathy, strong communication, and resilience to support young people.

Qualifications

• Patient, empathetic and proactive individual passionate about supporting young people.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Interest in SEMH, SEN, youth work, psychology, counselling or mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Support students with SEMH needs across Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Provide 1:1 and small group interventions to help students regulate emotions and engage with learning.
• Support pupils with challenging behaviour, anxiety, or emotional dysregulation.
• Build positive relationships with students and act as a consistent role model.
• Assist teachers in creating a calm, inclusive learning environment.
• Work with the SENCO and pastoral team to support individual student needs.
• Encourage positive behaviour and wellbeing inside and outside the classroom.
