Job summary

Academics is seeking a compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students at a secondary SEMH school in Reading. You will work closely with teachers to create a calm, supportive learning environment.

You will provide 1:1 and small group support, help with emotional regulation, confidence, and engagement, and build positive, trusting relationships with young people.

This is a full-time role with Monday–Friday hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm, starting ASAP, with pay in the £93–£110 per day range.

Qualifications

• Psychology graduate seeking valuable experience in SEMH settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Demonstrated resilience and patience when supporting students.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students.
• Support students with emotional regulation, confidence and engagement.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to create a safe, supportive environment.
• Monitor students' wellbeing, behaviour and progress.
