Job summary

Teaching Personnel in Salford is seeking an SEMH Classroom Mentor to support students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs in a specialist secondary provision. The role is full-time, term-time only, with immediate start.

You will work alongside teaching and pastoral staff to deliver 1:1 and small-group support, build relationships, help with behaviour and emotional learning, and contribute to reviews and progress. Experience with SEMH, SEN or vulnerable learners is desirable, enhanced DBS by Update

Responsibilities

Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs.
Build strong, positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and attendance.
Support students in managing behaviour, emotions, and social interactions.
Assist teachers in delivering lessons and adapting activities to meet individual needs.
Implement behaviour management strategies and support plans.
Promote positive wellbeing, resilience, and self-confidence.
De-escalate challenging situations using a calm and proactive approach.
Support pupils during transitions, breaktimes, and enrichment activities.
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral teams, and external professionals.
Monitor progress and contribute to student reviews and reports where appropriate.
