Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a compassionate Learning Mentor to support students in Wokingham in-person. You will provide individualised academic, pastoral and emotional guidance, helping pupils re-engage with education and build confidence.

Experience with SEND/SEMH is valuable, and you will work closely with teachers, parents and other professionals to monitor progress and foster resilience in learners.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people in education or mentoring.
• Experience with SEND and/or SEMH is desirable.
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with students.
• Strong communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one or small-group mentoring and educational support.
• Support students' academic progress and engagement.
• Help students develop confidence, resilience and independence.
• Build positive relationships with young people.
• Support students who may have struggled within a traditional school environment.
• Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning and education.
• Develop organisation, communication and independent learning skills.
• Provide emotional and pastoral support where appropriate.
• Support students to manage challenges and develop strategies for successful learning.
• Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers and relevant professionals where required.
• Maintaining clear and professional communication.
• Following safeguarding procedures at all times.
