Job summary

Quantum Scholars is seeking a Learning Mentor to support students in Wokingham. This in-person role focuses on emotional and academic guidance to help learners re-engage with education.

You will build strong, trusting relationships, provide individualised support, and work closely with teachers, parents and carers. Experience with SEND/SEMH is advantageous, and a patient, empathetic approach is essential. DBS checks may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in educational or mentoring settings.
• Experience with SEND and/or SEMH is desirable.
• Experience providing one-to-one support is desirable.
• Ability to build strong, positive relationships with young people.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

Working arrangement: In-person

Quantum Scholars is looking for a supportive, reliable and experienced Learning Mentor to work with children and young people in Wokingham. This is an in-person role and is not online work.

The role will involve providing individualised support to students who may benefit from additional academic, pastoral and emotional guidance. You will be expected to build positive and trusting relationships with students, help them develop confidence and resilience, and support them in re-engaging with education.

The successful candidate will have a patient and empathetic approach and be able to adapt their support to meet the individual needs of each student. Experience working with SEND and/or SEMH students would be particularly beneficial.

The role may involve

• Providing one-to-one or small-group mentoring and educational support
• Supporting students with their academic progress and engagement
• Helping students develop confidence, resilience and independence
• Building positive, consistent and trusting relationships with young people
• Supporting students who may have struggled within a traditional school environment
• Encouraging positive attitudes towards learning and education

• Supporting students to manage challenges and develop strategies for successful learning
• Monitoring progress and providing appropriate feedback
• Working collaboratively with teachers, parents, carers and relevant professionals where required
