Job summary

Academics is seeking Special Educational Needs Secondary SEMH Teaching Assistants to support students across Doncaster's specialist schools. You will assist with 1:1 and small-group work, helping children build confidence, communication, and core skills.

Experience with SEMH, autism, or communication disorders is valued. This role offers term-time, temporary placements with weekly pay, CPD opportunities, and a dedicated consultant to guide you.

Qualifications

• Qualified or experienced - Level 3 TA or equivalent in education/childcare/health settings.
• SEN-savvy with ability to adapt, connect, and inspire.
• Calm under pressure, patient and solution-focused in tricky situations.
• DBS on Update Service, or willingness to obtain.
• Two professional references available.

Responsibilities

• Be their champion, supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
• Think on your feet, adapting lessons and approaches for each learner.
• Turn behaviour into progress with positive, tailored strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and families to track progress and shape EHCPs.
• Meet each child where they are and help them progress.

• Qualified or experienced - Level 3 TA or equivalent experience in education, childcare, or health settings.
• SEN-savvy - you've supported children with additional needs and know how to adapt, connect, and inspire.
• Calm under pressure - patient, flexible, and solution-focused when things get tricky.
• DBS-ready - Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to get one if required.
• Reference-perfect - two professional references.
