Job summary

Rising Hope Education in Barking & Dagenham is seeking a confident Science Teacher to join their SEMH specialist school immediately. You will deliver engaging KS3 and KS4 science lessons and support pupils who may not thrive in mainstream settings.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, differentiate lessons, manage behaviour calmly, and uphold safeguarding standards to help vulnerable young people make meaningful progress.

Qualifications

• Has QTS/QTLS or relevant teaching experience within Science
• Is confident teaching Science across primary, KS3 and KS4
• Has experience of SEMH, SEND, alternative provision or challenging behaviour, or a genuine desire to move into specialist education
• Can confidently manage behaviour while remaining calm, consistent and relational
• Understands the importance of building trust with pupils who may have experienced disruption or barriers to education
• Can differentiate lessons for varying levels of ability and engagement
• Is resilient, adaptable and comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Has a strong commitment to safeguarding and supporting vulnerable young people

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and accessible Science lessons to pupils across KS3 and KS4
• Adapt teaching to meet a wide range of academic, behavioural and emotional needs
• Build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries and high expectations
• Create creative, practical and differentiated lessons to re-engage learners
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and uphold safeguarding standards
