Job summary

This full-time SEMH Class Teacher post in Birmingham suits a qualified teacher experienced in delivering the primary curriculum. Working within a specialist setting, the successful candidate will teach a small group of pupils who have encountered significant barriers to education, using a trauma-informed approach to support engagement and progress.

You will plan structured, engaging lessons, build positive relationships with pupils and work closely with Teaching Assistants and SEND colleagues.

Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and experience delivering the Primary curriculum.
Experience teaching pupils with SEMH needs and trauma-informed practice.
Strong classroom management and calm, compassionate approach.

Responsibilities

Teach a small class of pupils with SEMH needs.
Plan and deliver the Primary curriculum.
Adapt lessons to meet individual learning and SEMH needs.
Use a trauma-informed approach to teaching and behaviour.
Build positive relationships with pupils and collaborate with TAs and specialists.
Establish clear routines, boundaries and expectations.
Monitor progress and adjust teaching accordingly.
