Job summary

Think FE Ltd. is seeking a Specialist Learning Support Assistant to provide targeted support for learners with SEMH at a Northamptonshire college. You will work one-to-one and in small groups to help learners achieve personal and educational goals.

You will de-escalate challenging behaviours, maintain accurate records and contribute to support plans while collaborating with teaching and pastoral teams to create a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
• Experience supporting young people with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs.
• Confidence managing challenging behaviour and using de-escalation techniques.
• Good safeguarding and confidentiality understanding.
• Strong communication, organisation and record-keeping skills.
• Patient, resilient and collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support for learners with SEMH.
• Help learners manage behaviour using de-escalation strategies.
• Contribute to individual learner support plans.
• Motivate, mentor and build positive professional relationships.
• Maintain EHCP and learner-support records.
• Monitor attendance, engagement and progress; prepare learning resources.
• Work closely with teaching, learning-support and pastoral teams.
