Job summary

Academics is recruiting for an SEMH Learning Support Assistant at a welcoming Farnborough primary school. You will work 1:1 and in small groups to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them regulate emotions and engage in learning throughout the day.

Ideal candidates are patient, compassionate, and proactive, with strong communication skills and an eagerness to pursue roles in teaching, psychology, counselling or child-focused professions.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs through tailored 1:1 and small group interventions.
• Encouraging children to develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive coping strategies.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to deliver consistent support.
• Implementing behaviour support strategies and contributing to personalised intervention plans.
• Promoting a positive, inclusive, and emotionally supportive learning environment.
• Building strong relationships with pupils to encourage engagement, independence, and personal growth.
