Academics is working with a welcoming primary school in Walton-on-Thames to appoint an SEMH Learning Support Assistant. This role provides tailored support to pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them engage with learning and build confidence.

You will work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to deliver tailored interventions, promote emotional regulation, and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group SEMH support tailored to individual pupils.
  • Help pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience and coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral staff to deliver consistent support.
  • Contribute to personalised intervention plans and behaviour support strategies.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment and build pupil relationships.
  • Support pupil engagement, independence and personal growth throughout the day.
