Job summary

Kent Teaching Solutions Ltd. is seeking a dedicated SEMH Learning Support Assistant to help pupils aged 11-16. The role focuses on one-to-one and small group support for students with SEMH needs, aiding learning, resilience, and engagement within a caring school environment.

Applicants should have experience with SEMH, strong communication skills, and a calm approach. Level 2/3 TA qualifications or Team Teach are desirable but not essential; safeguarding remains a priority across our inclusive

Qualifications

• Assist in behaviour management and tailored interventions.
• Collaborate with staff, parents/carers and external agencies for best outcomes.

Job description

Every young person deserves the chance to succeed—academically, emotionally, and socially. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join our committed team and support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The pupils are Secondary aged, many learning at levels below their age range and dealing with a variety of issues, resulting in a placement at this specialist school. Staff are empathetic and caring; resilience is key. Behaviour can be challenging, but with reason. Staff at the school make a difference every single day.

About the Role:

• Work one-to-one and in small groups with students aged 11-16 with SEMH needs.
• Support pupils in overcoming barriers to learning, both inside and outside the classroom.
• Develop and implement personalised support strategies alongside teachers and the SENCO.
• Build trusting relationships to promote self-esteem, resilience, and engagement.
• Assist in behaviour management and the delivery of tailored interventions.
• Work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for students.

What We're Looking For:

• Experience working with young people with SEMH needs or in a similar support role.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
