Academics is working with a welcoming primary school in Walton-on-Thames to appoint an SEMH Learning Support Assistant. This role provides tailored support to pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them engage with learning and build confidence.

You will work closely with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to deliver tailored interventions, promote emotional regulation, and maintain an inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Academics is working with a welcoming primary school in Walton-on-Thames that is looking to appoint an SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is a rewarding opportunity to provide tailored support to pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural, and learning support within a nurturing and inclusive school environment.

As an SEMH Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, helping them build confidence, regulate their emotions, and engage positively with learning throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs through tailored 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Encouraging children to develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive coping strategies
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO, and pastoral staff to deliver consistent support
  • Implementing behaviour support strategies and contributing to personalised intervention plans
  • Promoting a positive, inclusive, and emotionally supportive learning environment
  • Building strong relationships with pupils to encourage engagement, independence, and personal growth
