Job summary

Class Education is recruiting a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join a specialist SEMH school on a temporary-to-permanent basis. You will work closely with teaching staff to provide tailored support to pupils, helping them engage with learning and develop confidence.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, building positive relationships, managing challenging behaviour, and contributing to a calm, safe and engaging classroom.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH or SEND is beneficial.
  • Transferable experience from youth work, care, support work, sports coaching or similar backgrounds is welcomed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils across the school.
  • Support pupils with their learning, emotional wellbeing and personal development.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and act as a consistent and supportive role model.
  • Assist teachers in creating a calm, safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Support pupils who may display challenging behaviour using positive strategies.
  • Help pupils develop confidence, independence and social skills.
  • Work as part of a supportive and experienced team.
  • Follow individual support plans and contribute to pupils' wider development.
