Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Learning Mentor to support young people with SEMH needs through community-based sessions in Launceston. You will deliver targeted GCSE English and Maths support, build vital core skills, and apply trauma-informed approaches to re-engage students in education.

A full UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle are essential, with travel expenses reimbursed and a long-term, full-time role.

Qualifications

Proven experience working with young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviours.
Strong working knowledge of the GCSE English and Maths curriculum.
Full UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle for community travel.
High emotional intelligence, patience, boundary-setting, and excellent communication.

Responsibilities

Deliver Community-Based Education: Work out in the local community to create engaging, non-traditional learning environments tailored to the young person's interests.
Core Subject Support: Plan and deliver targeted support for GCSE English and Maths to help students build essential academic foundations.
Build Trust & Confidence: Act as a positive role model, using trauma-informed approaches to re-engage young people who have struggled in mainstream settings.
Track Progress: Monitor emotional wellbeing, attendance, and academic milestones, adapting your approach as needed.
