Job summary

Randstad Education is seeking a Learning Mentor for our Alternative Provision in Launceston. You will work one-on-one with young people with SEMH needs, delivering tailored learning and helping them rebuild confidence in education.

You will deliver GCSE English and Maths support in community settings, build trust using trauma-informed approaches, monitor wellbeing and progress, and travel across the local area with a full UK driving license. Salary is £92.56–£95 per day.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young people with SEMH or challenging behaviours.
• Strong working knowledge of GCSE English and Maths curriculum.
• Full UK driving license and access to a reliable vehicle for community travel is essential.
• High emotional intelligence, patience, boundary-setting and excellent communication.

Learning Mentor - Alternative Provision

Are you passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Mentor to join our Alternative Provision team in Launceston. In this role, you will work one-on-one with young people experiencing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will deliver tailored learning, build vital core skills, and help restore their confidence in education.

• Deliver Community-Based Education: Work out in the local community to create engaging, non-traditional learning environments tailored to the young person's interests.
• Core Subject Support: Plan and deliver targeted support for GCSE English and Maths to help students build essential academic foundations.
• Build Trust & Confidence: Act as a positive role model, using trauma-informed approaches to re-engage young people who have struggled in mainstream settings.
• Track Progress: Monitor emotional wellbeing, attendance, and academic milestones, adapting your approach as needed.
