Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Learning Behaviour Mentor (SEMH) to support students in mainstream schools, SEN units and APs. You will help pupils regulate emotions, build relationships and resilience, and work closely with teachers to deliver targeted interventions.

The role involves 1-1 and group support, de-escalation strategies, and logging progress. A DBS check is mandatory; previous experience with children or youth work is desirable, with opportunities for ongoing CPD

Qualifications

Ability to empathise with vulnerable pupils and build trust.
Stay calm under pressure with emotional resilience.
Strong communication, active listening and conflict resolution skills.
Experience working with children or youth in care or education settings.
GCSE English/Maths or equivalent.
DBS check is mandatory.

Responsibilities

Provide 1-1 and group support to aid development in social and emotional skills.
Support in academic studies and deliver interventions.
De-escalate challenging environments with calming strategies.
Engage in activities that build life skills and emotional regulation.
Collaborate with teachers and school staff.
Log communications with parents/carers on data platforms.
Utilise EHCP plans to create personalised targets for pupils.
