Job summary

Veritas Education is seeking a Learning Behaviour Mentor (SEMH) to support children and young people facing SEMH or behavioural barriers in mainstream schools, SEN units and APs. You will help students regulate emotions and participate in education, working closely with teachers and families.

The role involves 1-1 and group support, delivering interventions, de-escalating situations with calming strategies, and building life skills and resilience in a supportive classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Empathise with vulnerable pupils and build trust.
  • Stay calm under pressure with emotional resilience.
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills.
  • Experience with children, youth work or care settings.
  • GCSE English/Maths; DBS check required.
  • Specialist training such as Team Teach or safeguarding certificates.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1-1 and group support to aid development in social and emotional skills.
  • Support in academic studies and deliver interventions.
  • De-escalate challenging environments with calming strategies.
  • Engage in activities that build life skills and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with teachers and school staff.
  • Communicate with parents/carers to support student needs.
  • Collaborate with SEN specialists in support of child development.
