Job summary

Veritas Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HTLA) for a specialist SEMH setting in Halewood, Liverpool. The role focuses on supporting pupils with SEMH needs through structured learning and nurture-based strategies.

The HTLA will work under the guidance of teaching staff, lead targeted interventions, and promote positive behaviour within a supportive team. A Level 3 TA qualification and experience with challenging behaviours are preferred.

Qualifications

  • The role requires Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience with SEMH/SEND needs is highly desirable.
  • Strong behaviour management and de‑escalation skills.
  • Excellent communication and ability to build relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers with planning and delivering differentiated learning activities.
  • Lead small-group or individual sessions to support academic, social, and emotional development.
  • Provide targeted support for pupils facing barriers to learning and managing behaviour.
  • Create a positive, inclusive learning environment and monitor pupil progress.
  • Collaborate with staff, parents, and external professionals to provide holistic support.
