Job summary

The Education Network in Walsall is seeking a conscientious Behaviour Mentor to support pupils with SEMH and challenging behaviours in a specialist setting. You will provide individual and small-group support, build positive relationships with students, and work closely with teachers and the pastoral team to promote engagement.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours is essential for this Behaviour Mentor role.
• Experience within a school, Alternative Provision, PRU or specialist setting would be highly desirable.
• The school is happy to consider applications from both primary and secondary Behaviour Mentors.
• The successful Behaviour Mentor will be calm, patient and resilient, with the confidence to manage challenging situations and build positive relationships with young people.

Responsibilities

• Working as a Behaviour Mentor supporting young people with SEMH needs.
• Providing individual and small-group support to students.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with young people.
• Supporting students who display challenging behaviours.
• Helping students to regulate their emotions and manage their behaviour.
• Encouraging positive engagement with learning and school life.
• Working closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team.
• Supporting students to overcome social, emotional and academic barriers.
• Using a calm and consistent approach when managing challenging situations.
• Reinforcing positive behaviour, boundaries and expectations.
• Supporting students to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
• Contributing to a safe, positive and supportive learning environment.
