Job summary

Connex Education Partnership in Wolverhampton is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor / Youth Worker to support pupils with SEMH and SEN in a specialist school setting. This role focuses on building trust, encouraging positive behaviour, and delivering 1:1 and small-group support to help students engage with learning.

The successful candidate will have experience working with young people, a patient and resilient attitude, and a willingness to obtain an Enhanced DBS.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people displaying challenging behaviour.
• Experience supporting SEMH or SEN needs.
• A patient, resilient and approachable attitude.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to remain calm and consistent in challenging situations.
• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with young people facing challenging circumstances.
• Support pupils with SEMH and SEN needs.
• Manage challenging behaviour using a calm, patient and consistent approach.
• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to help pupils engage with learning.
• Develop pupils’ social, emotional and communication skills.
• Encourage positive behaviour, self-confidence and personal development.
• Help create a safe, supportive environment where pupils can thrive.
