Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with behavioural and social needs in Chatham. Start date September 2026. This role requires patience, resilience, and a calm approach to support inclusion and learning access.

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to create a nurturing environment, monitor progress, and adapt activities to help the pupil thrive academically and socially.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN, especially behavioural and social needs.
• Patience, resilience, and empathy.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Proactive in supporting inclusion and positive relationships.
• Calm and consistent in challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support tailored to the pupil's needs.
• Implement behaviour strategies and emotional regulation.
• Support social development and peer interactions.
• Adapt learning activities for engagement and accessibility.
• Monitor progress and communicate with staff and parents.
