Job summary

Academics is recruiting a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a SEMH school in Canterbury from September. This full-time role supports pupils with SEMH and works 1:1 and in small groups to help them engage with learning and manage behaviour.

You will collaborate with teachers to create a safe, structured learning environment, develop positive relationships, and implement emotional regulation strategies. A current DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one is required; salary will reflect

Qualifications

  • Has experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, SEN or challenging behaviour.
  • Is resilient, patient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Has strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
  • Is passionate about making a positive difference to the lives of young people.
  • Is available to work 5 days per week from September.
  • Holds an active DBS on the Update Service, or is willing to obtain one through Academics.

Responsibilities

  • Providing classroom support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Working on a 1:1 basis and in small groups where required.
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Helping to create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment.
  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals to support individual pupil needs.
