Job summary

ZEISS Cambridge is seeking an Applications Engineer to support customers through FAT, provide technical consultation, and deliver demonstrations and training on SEM systems. You will work with sales, product management and cross-functional teams to ensure customer requirements are met before installation.

The role involves hands-on SEM operation, collaboration with engineers and scientists, and providing expert guidance across projects, with occasional international travel as required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on SEM operation experience.
• Experience in engineering, scientific or technical environment.
• Knowledge of EDS techniques and analytical methods.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capability.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on ZEISS Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM).
• Ensure systems meet quality standards and customer expectations prior to shipment.
• Act as a technical expert for customers, sales teams and product management.
• Support customer demonstrations, sample validation activities and feasibility studies.
• Deliver customer training on microscopy systems where required.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Support the continuous improvement of acceptance testing processes and work instructions.
• Provide technical guidance and applications expertise across a range of customer projects.
