Job summary

ZEISS Microscopy Cambridge is seeking an Applications Engineer on a 12-month maternity cover to support FAT, provide technical consultation, demonstrations and training for SEM systems. Working closely with customers, sales teams and product management, you will ensure systems meet requirements and deliver exceptional customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEM).
• Experience in engineering, scientific or technical environment.
• Knowledge of analytical techniques such as Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS).
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capability.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing requirements.
• Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) on ZEISS SEMs.
• Ensure systems meet quality standards and customer expectations prior to shipment.
• Act as a technical expert for customers, sales teams and product management.
• Support customer demonstrations, sample validation activities and feasibility studies.
• Deliver customer training on microscopy systems where required.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Support the continuous improvement of acceptance testing processes and work instructions.
• Provide technical guidance and applications expertise across a range of customer projects.
