Job summary

SSR Contract & Technical is seeking a Security Service Engineer to provide engineering expertise and customer service during maintenance, installation and commissioning of CCTV, Access Control, Intercom and Intruder systems across multiple sites.

You will troubleshoot faults, work with fibre optic and LAN/WAN networks, and support out-of-hours emergencies. Travel between sites is required; ongoing training and development are encouraged.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in Electronic Security or equivalent proven experience.
• Knowledge of Access control / CCTV / Intercom / Intruder systems.
• Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.
• Knowledge of digital electronics principles and systems; Health and Safety.
• Experience with CCTV operating systems on small to multi-site installations.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP and basic network fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Fault finding and repairs of PC/Network-based and analogue security systems.
• Support CCTV/Intercom/Intruder systems across sites and resolve faults.
• Understand fibre optic transmission, LAN/WAN networks, and radio telemetry for fault remedies.
• Provide emergency solutions when on call as rota requires.
• Collaborate with teams to ensure the scope of works meets customer expectations.
• Stay up to date with technical knowledge through training.
• Adhere to business processes for orders, stock, timesheets and job closing.
• Travel between sites during the working day.

Security Service Engineer

The purpose of the job is to provide professional engineering expertise and excellent internal and external customer service during the maintenance of variety of CCTV, Intruder, Access Control Systems and other security solutions. Including some installation & commissioning.

The main challenges of the job are deadline pressures, demand for thoroughness, customer service skills, route cause analysis on faults to meet the business requirements.

Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Provide technical expertise in fault finding and repairs of varied selection of PC/Network based and analogue security systems with a working knowledge of different high end software packages
• Provide technical expertise in fault finding and repair with a variety of CCTV operating systems from small scale CCTV systems to large Multi-site installations with PC Based Digital Recorders.
• To have an understanding of fibre optic transmission systems, LAN/WAN networks and radio telemetry systems to effectively remedy any faults. Liaise with higher grade engineers where required
• Provide emergency solutions when operating out of hours as specified on the departmental rota.
• Collaborate with all parts of the business to ensure that the agreed scope of works is delivered in line with the customer's expectations.
• Participate in team meetings and actively contribute towards the business' activities.
• Strive to maximize personal development and performance and take active part in performance reviews and personal development plans. Maintain up to date technical knowledge through internal and external training provision.
• Operate according to the requirements of business-specific applications and processes and the broad application environments (e.g. order submission, stock control, timesheet submission, job closing, etc.)
• Travel between sites during the working day.
