Job summary

GCHQ is seeking dedicated Security Officers to act as the first point of contact for visitors and staff at our sites in the UK. You will help manage access, monitor CCTV, and respond to incidents, always following our security procedures and logging details accurately.

With a strong emphasis on teamwork, you’ll work in a close-knit security team, gaining experience across patrols, searches, and visitor guidance while ensuring safety and compliance in dynamic environments.

Qualifications

• Security or customer service experience interacting daily with visitors and staff.
• English Language GCSE grade C/4 or higher (or equivalent) with strong written and verbal communication.
• Full driving licence for foot and vehicle patrols.
• Basic IT and Microsoft Office skills for incident logging.
• Ability to reliably commute for assigned shift times.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for visitors and staff entering our buildings.
• Monitor CCTV in the control room or oversee building access.
• Carry out searches or patrol the grounds on foot or in vehicles.
• Respond to alarms and keep clear, accurate incident logs.
• Guide people through security procedures and ensure safety.
