Job summary

GCHQ in Scarborough is seeking a Security Officer to be the first point of contact for visitors and staff, ensuring safety and compliance with security procedures. You will work in a close‑knit team, monitoring access, conducting patrols and supporting incident response.

You’ll need to maintain clear documentation, demonstrate situational awareness, and adapt to varying security demands while collaborating with multiple agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience in security or customer service interactions with visitors and staff.
• Written and verbal communication skills developed in front‑line roles.
• Ability to complete incident logs accurately and timely.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors and staff and verify entry procedures.
• Monitor CCTV and control access to buildings.
• Carry out searches and patrols on foot or by vehicle as required.
• Maintain accurate incident logs and follow security policies.
