Security Officer – Protect UK Facilities (Fixed Shifts)

Job summary

GCHQ in Manchester is seeking a Security Officer to be the first point of contact for people entering our buildings and to support a safe, secure environment. You may monitor CCTV, oversee access, and carry out searches or patrols as required.

Shifts are fixed with different pay scales for Extended Day Officers (£31,878) and 24-Hour Officers (£37,338). Flexible or remote working isn't possible; training includes SIA certifications and induction with a buddy on shift.

Qualifications

• English Language GCSE at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent experience).
• Basic IT and Microsoft Office skills to support incident logging.
• Security experience or coming from military, police, prison or other protective services background.
• Significant customer service experience from a public-facing role.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for people entering our buildings.
• Monitor CCTV in the Security Control Room or oversee access to the building.
• Carry out physical searches or patrol the grounds.
• Respond to alarms and provide first aid as needed.
• Communicate clearly and work collaboratively while following our policies.
