Job summary

GCHQ in Scarborough is seeking a Security Officer to be the first point of contact for people entering our buildings. You will monitor access, operate CCTV, perform searches, and respond to alarms as part of a close-knit team.

Shifts are fixed with a 24-hour roster and no flexible or remote working. Applicants should have English GCSE at C/4 or above, basic IT and MS Office skills, a driving licence, and the ability to commute reliably to shifts, with opportunities for training and progression

Qualifications

• English Language GCSE at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• Basic IT and Microsoft Office skills to support incident logging.
• Full UK driving licence and ability to commute to assigned shifts.
• Security experience or background in protective services is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Be the first point of contact for visitors and staff entering buildings.
• Monitor CCTV, oversee access control and conduct searches.
• Respond to alarms and incidents with clear, accurate incident logs.
• Work as part of a close-knit security team to maintain safety and procedures.
