Job summary

Wilson James in Surrey is seeking a vigilant Security Officer for a permanent role. The position is full time with a 4 on, 4 off pattern, 06:00–18:00 shifts and a pay of £15.52 per hour. You will monitor premises, conduct patrols, respond to incidents and maintain security protocols across client sites.

• Proven experience in a security role or similar
• Strong observational skills to identify and respond to threats
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with staff, visitors, authorities
• Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

• Welcoming staff and visitors and creating a safe, professional atmosphere
• Conducting regular patrols and monitor premises to prevent unauthorised access, theft, or vandalism
• Monitoring access points, CCTV, and handling security procedures
• Respond promptly to alarms, emergencies, and security incidents, taking appropriate action as needed
• Complete detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and any security concerns
• Assist in emergency situations, including evacuations and first aid support if required
• Adapting to different client sites – no two days are the same
• Responding calmly and confidently to incidents or concerns
• Working as part of a diverse, supportive team

What we are looking for:

• To hold a current DS SIA Licence
• Proven experience in a security role or a similar position.
• Strong observational skills with the ability to identify and respond to security threats.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, visitors, and authorities.
• Ability to remain calm and act decisively in high-pressure situations.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
