Job summary

ABM Group at Eastgate Shopping Centre in Inverness seeks a Security Officer to provide a visible security presence and excellent customer service. You will patrol the centre, monitor alarms and CCTV, manage access, and assist in emergencies while upholding safety standards.

The role requires an SIA Door Supervisor Licence, security experience, superb communication and a calm, professional demeanor. Flexible weekends and bank holidays are included.

Qualifications

• Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
• Previous security experience.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Basic IT literacy.
• SIA CCTV license is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Carry out regular patrols of the centre, service corridors, car parks and external areas.
• Monitor and respond to alarms, incidents and security breaches professionally.
• Complete lock and unlock procedures for designated areas.
• Monitor CCTV systems and report findings as per policy.
• Challenge unauthorised persons and manage access control procedures.
• Support emergency responses including evacuations and incident management.
• Record and report all incidents accurately and promptly.
• Deliver excellent customer service to visitors, retailers, contractors and colleagues.
• Provide information and directions to members of the public.
• Act as an ambassador for Eastgate Shopping Centre and maintain a welcoming environment.
• Support centre events and initiatives as needed.
• Identify hazards and unsafe practices and report them.

Location: Eastgate Shopping Center

Hours: 42 hours per week 4 on 4 off (including weekends and Bank holidays)

Hourly Rate: £14.02 Per Hour

Contract: Full Time Permanent

ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE

We are seeking professional, customer-focused Security Officers to join our team at Eastgate Shopping Centre, Inverness. The successful candidate will provide a highly visible security presence, ensuring the safety and security of visitors, retailers, contractors, and colleagues while delivering exceptional customer service.

As a Security Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming shopping environment, supporting daily operations, responding to incidents, and upholding the highest standards of service delivery.

Key responsibility

• Carry out regular patrols of the shopping centre, service corridors, car parks, and external areas.
• Monitor and respond to alarms, incidents, and security breaches in a professional manner.
• Complete lock and unlock procedures for designated areas.
• Monitor CCTV systems in accordance with company procedures and current legislation.
• Challenge unauthorised persons and manage access control procedures.
• Support emergency response activities, including evacuations and incident management.
• Record and report all incidents accurately and in a timely manner.
• Deliver excellent customer service to visitors, retailers, contractors, and colleagues.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to members of the public.
• Act as an ambassador for Eastgate Shopping Centre, ensuring a welcoming and professional environment.
• Support centre events and initiatives when required.
• Identify and report hazards, defects, and unsafe practices.
• Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
• Support emergency procedures, including fire and first aid incidents where trained.
• Maintain awareness of site emergency plans and business continuity arrangements.
• Liaise with emergency services and centre management as required.
• Complete detailed incident reports and documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of patrols, incidents, and daily activities.
• Use security systems and technology in line with company policies.

Candidate requirements:

• Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence.
• Previous experience in a security role.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service focus.
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
• Good observational and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work a flexible shift pattern, including weekends and bank holidays.
• Basic IT literacy.
• SIA CCTV license (desirable)

Health & Safety Responsibilities:

• Conduct daily/weekly/monthly duties in line with the SIA license training courses to ensure the centre is safe and compliant in all aspect of health & safety
• Confident in complying with health & safety and fire prevention procedures
• Take an active role in emergency situations including Fire Warden tasks
• Oversee external contractor management to ensure they are working safely
• Always follow ABM Group and company policies and procedures
• Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment
• Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received
• Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system
