Job summary

Securitas UK is seeking a professional Security Officer in Cranfield to safeguard people, property and data at a prestigious academic environment. You will work 56 hours per week on a 3-days/3-nights/3-off rotation, starting from day one with comprehensive training and development.

Key duties include monitoring alarms and CCTV, conducting patrols, managing access, and assisting staff and visitors while upholding integrity, vigilance and helpfulness.

Qualifications

• A valid SIA licence.
• Flexible attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills and a professional image at all times.
• Comfortable in a customer‑facing role with a service‑oriented approach.
• Right to work in the UK with a 5-year checkable history.
• Strong written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site and monitor alarms and CCTV.
• Carry out external and internal security patrols as instructed.
• Test security equipment as needed.
• Manage keys and perform locking/unlocking duties.
• Maintain logbooks and records as required.
• Issue passes to visitors/contractors per instructions.
• Provide guidance and information to staff, visitors and contractors.

We are currently seeking a professional and reliable Security Officer to deliver a high-quality security service at a prestigious academic and research-focused environment, supporting a leading institution renowned for its work in advanced technology, engineering, and innovation. This role is integral in protecting students, staff, visitors, property, and critical research assets, while ensuring all duties are carried out in line with assignment instructions and client requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent customer service, consistently reflecting the core values of integrity, vigilance, and helpfulness.

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

• Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site. Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV as appropriate
• Conduct external and internal security patrols as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Carry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriate
• Manage keys and perform locking and unlocking duties as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Maintain all logbooks and records as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Issue visitor/contractor passes in accordance with the Assignment Instructions
• Provide support, guidance and information to all staff, visitors and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises

Qualifications
