Job summary

Securitas is seeking a professional Security Officer in Cranfield, MK43 0AL, to deliver high-quality security services at a prestigious academic environment. The role focuses on protecting students, staff, visitors and assets, with duties aligned to client requirements and assignment instructions.

You’ll monitor CCTV, conduct patrols, manage keys and assist site operations, while upholding integrity, vigilance and helpfulness in every interaction.

Responsibilities

• Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site.
• Monitor fire, intruder alarms and CCTV as required.
• Carry out internal and external security patrols.
• Manage keys and perform locking/unlocking duties.
• Maintain logs and issue visitor passes per instructions.
• Support staff, visitors and contractors while safeguarding premises.
• Provide guidance and information to others on site.

Hours: 56 hours per week, working 3 days, 3 nights and then 3 off

We are currently seeking a professional and reliable Security Officer to deliver a high-quality security service at a prestigious academic and research-focused environment, supporting a leading institution renowned for its work in advanced technology, engineering, and innovation. This role is integral in protecting students, staff, visitors, property, and critical research assets, while ensuring all duties are carried out in line with assignment instructions and client requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellent customer service, consistently reflecting the core values of integrity, vigilance, and helpfulness

As a Security Officer, your key responsibilities include preventing unauthorised access, monitoring CCTV and alarm systems, conducting internal and external patrols, and supporting site operations such as traffic control and access management. You will also carry out routine equipment checks, manage keys, and ensure all security procedures are followed accurately. You will have a proactive approach and the ability to maintain a safe and secure environment at all times.

Responsibilities

You’ll play a vital part in keeping people, property, and information safe. That includes:

• Prevent and deter unauthorised access to site. Monitor fire alarms, intruder alarms and CCTV as appropriate
• Conduct external and internal security patrols as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Carry out routine tests of security equipment where appropriate
• Manage keys and perform locking and unlocking duties as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Maintain all logbooks and records as detailed in the Assignment Instructions
• Issue visitor/contractor passes in accordance with the Assignment Instructions
• Provide support, guidance and information to all staff, visitors and contractors whilst ensuring safeguarding of the premises
