Job summary

Protocol Education Ltd. is recruiting for a Teaching Assistant / Support Worker to work in a children's secure unit. You will support young people throughout their day, helping them engage with education and develop positive routines.

We are particularly interested in candidates with SEND, SEMH, PRUs or alternative provision experience, residential care, or youth work. This role offers ongoing training, a dedicated local consultant and long-term opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEND (Special Educational Needs) and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) is preferred.
• Experience in PRUs or alternative provision can be beneficial.
• Experience in residential care, children's services or youth work is welcomed.
• Experience in behaviour support or education-related settings is advantageous.
• Ability to build professional relationships with young people, families and staff.
• Ability to follow individual plans and support development of routines.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to young people.
• Support learning activities and assist with classroom routines.
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Help young people manage emotions and develop social skills.
• Support communication and social development.
• Build professional relationships with teachers, care staff and other professionals.
• Promote independence and responsibility in daily activities.
• Maintain a safe and structured environment.
• Follow individual plans and protocols.
