Job summary

BT Group is seeking a skilled professional to manage and operate a large, highly secure managed service supporting national infrastructure and HM Government Defence operations in the UK.

You will cover shifts focusing on service resilience, security assurance, and operational stability, while following BT SYOPS and procedures. The role requires collaboration across virtual and on-site teams and the ability to obtain DV clearance where required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience supporting secure, highly available managed services in regulated or classified environments.
• Working knowledge of networking, infrastructure, security, virtualization, and environmental systems in secure estates.
• Ability to collaborate across virtual and on-site BT teams, third-party suppliers, contractors, and customer authorities.
• Commitment to SYOPS, processes, procedures, and local work instructions.
• Willingness to obtain Developed Vetting (DV) security clearance as required.

Responsibilities

• Manage, operate, and assure a large, complex, highly secure managed service supporting critical UK national infrastructure and HM Government Defence operations.
• Take responsibility during shifts for service resilience, security assurance, and operational stability.
• Carry out first- and second-line operational activities for the managed service while on shift.
• Follow platform and building SYOPS, processes, procedures, and authorised BT or customer-directed activities.
• Maintain awareness of operational priorities, security posture, and live service risks.
• Help keep networking, security, IT, server, virtualisation and infrastructure components operational and ready.
• Support regular service testing, exercises, and capability development as directed by the Operational Service Manager.
• Identify and elevate incidents and service degradation, and support resolution in line with procedures.
• Help achieve and maintain government and Ministry of Defence security accreditation for the managed service.
