Job summary

Network Rail in Scotland is seeking a dedicated planner to organise and optimise all agreed work activities within the section, ensuring safe, compliant delivery. You will produce Safe Systems of Work, submit access requests, and help shape quarterly plans to meet short and medium-term objectives.

You will manage weekly planning meetings, represent Section Managers, and maintain high-quality records across systems and documentation to support informed decision-making and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Experience in planning large-scale railway works or similar operations.
  • Ability to produce Safe Systems of Work and manage compliance.
  • Strong planning, organisation and stakeholder engagement skills.

Scotland's Railway is part of this large family and it covers a large geographical area from the Borders to Thurso at the far tip of the North East of Scotland, accounting for almost 20 per cent of the UK rail network. We provide rapid access along busy commuter routes to our seven cities, servicing the varied needs of our business and leisure commuter services, including cross border services and rural services. About the role

This is a Full-TimePermanentposition.

This role is responsible for planning, coordinating and optimising all agreed work activities within the section to ensure safe, efficient and compliant delivery. You will produce Safe Systems of Work, submit green zone access and isolation requests, and develop draft quarterly plans to support short¿ and medium¿term operational objectives. A key part of the role involves managing weekly Plan¿Do¿Review meetings and representing Section Managers at planning meetings, ensuring clear communication and effective stakeholder engagement.

You will also be accountable for maintaining high¿quality records by accurately updating systems, databases and infrastructure maintenance documentation. Through careful collation and management of planning and maintenance records, you will support informed decision¿making, performance monitoring and continuous improvement across the section.
