Job summary

Network Rail in Ipswich is seeking a Planner to optimise work activities, produce Safe Systems of Work, and support planning and coordination across teams. You will manage plans, rosters, and records while ensuring confidentiality and safety-critical documentation.

The role includes admin duties, data entry, and ensuring efficient office processes to back the Section Manager. Salary £34-£35,000 DOE with pension and benefits offered.

Qualifications

  • Work Plan production and resource optimisation skills.
  • Scheduling profile in work planning/scheduling system.
  • Core Planning Skills Level 2.
  • Knowledge of access and possession processes and systems.
  • Safe System of Work Planning Process and System.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience of clerical support and office management.
  • Excellent time manager.
  • Knowledge of relevant IT systems.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Knowledge of operational railway environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and optimise all agreed work activities within the section, ensuring schedules are efficient and deliverable.
  • Produce Safe Systems of Work, submit green zone access and isolation requests, develop draft quarterly plans, and manage weekly Plan-Do-Review meetings.
  • Represent Section Managers at planning and coordination meetings, supporting effective communication and delivery across teams.
  • Provide administrative and record-keeping support, maintain accurate systems, databases, infrastructure maintenance records, rosters and timesheets, and support the Assessment in the Line process.
  • Set up and maintain efficient filing systems, with attention to confidentiality and safety-critical documentation, and carry out general office administration duties to support the Section Manager.

About The Role

Salary - £34-£35,000 DOE

Grade - Band 5 (Role Clarity Contract)
