Job summary

Network Rail, based in Scotland, seeks a planner to coordinate and optimise work activities, produce Safe System of Work plans, and manage planning meetings. You will maintain records and support decision-making for safe and compliant delivery within the section.

The role requires strong planning skills, experience with access processes, and effective stakeholder engagement. Band 5 role with pension and benefits, based in Scotland.

Qualifications

  • Work Plan production and resource optimisation skills.
  • Scheduling profile in work planning/scheduling system.
  • Core Planning Skills Level 2.
  • Knowledge of access and possession processes and systems.
  • Safe System of Work Planning Process and System.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

Scotland's Railway is part of this large family and it covers a large geographical area from the Borders to Thurso at the far tip of the North East of Scotland, accounting for almost 20 per cent of the UK rail network. We provide rapid access along busy commuter routes to our seven cities, servicing the varied needs of our business and leisure commuter services, including cross border services and rural services. About the role

This is a Full-Time Permanent position.

This role is responsible for planning, coordinating and optimising all agreed work activities within the section to ensure safe, efficient and compliant delivery. You will produce Safe Systems of Work, submit green zone access and isolation requests, and develop draft quarterly plans to support short and mediumterm operational objectives. A key part of the role involves managing weekly PlanDoReview meetings and representing Section Managers at planning meetings, ensuring clear communication and effective stakeholder engagement.

You will also be accountable for maintaining highquality records by accurately updating systems, databases and infrastructure maintenance documentation. Through careful collation and management of planning and maintenance records, you will support informed decisionmaking, performance monitoring and continuous improvement across the section.

Salary: £28,000
