Job summary

Kier is seeking a Section Engineer to join our wastewater construction team based in Hogsmill, Surrey. You will support engineering and technical compliance, bridging design and site delivery, ensuring safe, timely delivery to required standards.

The role requires reading drawings, coordinating temporary works, monitoring progress, and contributing to project reporting. Applicants should have a civil engineering degree or equivalent, CSCS, driving licence, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND or Bachelor's degree in civil, mechanical, electrical or related engineering discipline.
• Experience in infrastructure or wastewater construction projects focusing on engineering assurance.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and site coordination.
• CSCS card and a Full driving licence; proficient in MS Office and construction software.

Responsibilities

• Interpret design documentation and ensure works follow approved drawings and specs.
• Support construction teams with technical queries and resolve design conflicts.
• Coordinate temporary works designs and approvals per site requirements.

Job Description

We're looking for a Section Engineer to join our wastewater construction team based in Hogsmill, Surrey. Location: Hogsmill, Surrey Hours: 45 hours per week - some flexibility on hours available if desired, just let us know when you speak to us. We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically astute Section Engineer to join our progressive and delivery-focused team within the wastewater construction sector. You will play a key role in supporting the engineering and technical compliance of the project, bridging the gap between design and construction, and providing engineering support across the project to ensure safe and timely delivery to the required standard.

What will you be responsible for?

• Interpreting design documentation and ensuring works are carried out in accordance with approved drawings and specifications
• Supporting construction teams with technical queries, resolving design conflicts, and driving value engineering initiatives
• Managing and coordinating temporary works designs and approvals in line with site requirements and programme
• Monitoring and recording construction progress and providing accurate technical input to support project reporting and planning
• Ensuring compliance with relevant industry standards, CDM regulations, and internal quality procedures

What are we looking for?

• You have an HNC/HND or Bachelor's degree (or demonstrable equivalent experience) in civil engineering, mechanical, electrical, or a related engineering discipline
• You have practical experience working on infrastructure or wastewater construction projects, with a focus on engineering assurance
• You can read and interpret construction drawings, technical specifications, and design packages
• You have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on technical detail and site coordination
• You hold a valid CSCS card and a Full driving licence, and have excellent communication skills with proficiency in MS Office and construction-related software
